Jazz and Classical Trombonist Aaron Hartley is currently part time faculty at the New England Conservatory of Music through the Contemporary Improvisation department. Teaching and performing with legendary noir pianist Ran Blake, Aaron's methods of teaching and performing weigh heavily on aural training and learning by ear. When teaching privately in order to build flexibility and strong fundamentals, Aaron strongly encourages students to follow the physical endurance studies of trumpeters Carmine Caruso, Irons, and John McNeil, in addition to using standardized methods of teaching such as the Arban's,Blazhevich, and Rochut excerpt books. Aaron has a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music in trombone performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston.
