I trained early on to be a band director and later turned my attention to performing instead. I was a graduate teaching assistant at ASU (1984) teaching low brass classes and non-music major low brass students.
My teachers have included Joe Belk (deceased - former principle trombonist with the Charlotte Symphony), John Driver (former bass trombonist with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra), Dr. Harold Van McKinney (former low brass professor at Appalachian State University), Larry Isaacson (freelance trombonist in the Boston area and second trombonist with the Boston Pops Orchestra at the time), among others. |
